JEDDAH — In a match held at Prince Abdullah Al-Faisal Stadium in Jeddah, Al-Ahli and Al-Ettifaq settled for a goalless draw in the eighth round of the Saudi League, halting the winning streak for the former and impeding the latter’s attempt to reclaim victory.
Although Al-Ahli dominated possession throughout the game, they failed to breach Al-Ettifaq’s defense, led by English coach Steven Gerrard. The encounter concluded with a frustrating 0-0 draw.
Al-Ahli had a goal disallowed in the first half due to an offside call against Brazilian striker Firmino.
With this draw, Al-Ettifaq reached 17 points, maintaining their position in fifth place on the league table. Meanwhile, Al-Ahli accumulated 16 points, securing the sixth spot.
In another match in Dammam, Damak secured their first victory of the season, defeating Al-Khaleej 2-0. After four draws and three losses, Damak earned three points, climbing to the fifteenth position with a total of seven points. On the other hand, Al-Khaleej’s winless streak continued, and their points froze at eight.
Captain Farouk Shafii gave Damak the lead just before the end of the first half, and Nkoudou extended their advantage with a second goal in the 56th minute. Damak successfully maintained their lead until the closing moments of the match.
