RIYADH — In a pulsating clash at Al Awwal Park on Tuesday, Al Nassr extended their flawless run in Group E of the AFC Champions League 2023-24, overcoming Al Duhail 4-3 in a goal-laden spectacle.
Anderson Talisca, Sadio Mane, and a brace from Cristiano Ronaldo propelled Al Nassr to their third consecutive win.
The momentum was set early by Al Nassr’s talisman, Anderson Talisca, whose menacing run and left-footed strike sent warnings to Al Duhail within three minutes.
Despite initial pressure, Al Duhail settled, with Ismaeel Mohammed and Michael Olunga causing issues for Al Nassr’s defense.
Talisca opened the scoring with a clinical finish from Ronaldo’s clever flick, marking his ninth goal in the last seven matches.
Al Nassr’s dominance continued as Mane doubled the lead, and Ronaldo added a sublime strike from distance.
Al Duhail showed resilience, narrowing the gap with goals from Mohammad and Almoez Ali.
However, Ronaldo’s left-footed volley seemingly secured the win for Al Nassr. Despite Olunga’s late brace for Al Duhail, time ran out, and Al Nassr clinched all three points.
The captivating encounter sets the stage for a rematch on Nov. 7 in Qatar as both teams gear up for another intense battle in the AFC Champions League.
