DUBAI — Fahad Al-Muwallad, star of the Saudi national team and Al-Shabab Club, is in critical condition following a fall from his apartment balcony in Dubai, according to medical sources.
Reports indicate that Al-Muwallad has suffered severe skull fractures and neck injuries, among other body injuries, and is currently in the intensive care unit of a Dubai hospital.
Dubai Police is investigating with a group of individuals who were with the player. The Dubai Police General Headquarters confirmed on Saturday that the accident occurred while Al-Muwallad was on his balcony, with preliminary investigations ongoing.
The Saudi Consulate in Dubai issued a statement confirming that it was notified of the accident on Thursday, and coordinated with Dubai authorities, the police, and the hospital’s medical team.
The Saudi national team’s medical and administrative staff arrived in Dubai, directed by Sports Minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki Al-Faisal and Saudi Football Federation President Yasser Al-Mishal, to oversee the player’s condition.
The consulate stated that Al-Muwallad remains under medical surveillance in the ICU, and it continues to monitor the investigation. They expressed hopes for his speedy recovery.
Meanwhile, Al-Shabab Club is preparing for a tough match on Sunday against Al-Qadsiah in the third round of the Saudi Pro League, with club president Mohamed Al-Munajem and Turki Al-Ghamdi, the club’s media manager, currently in Dubai with the player.
Saudi Pro League teams have shown solidarity with Al-Muwallad, calling for prayers for his swift recovery. Sports Minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki Al-Faisal, Saudi Football Federation President Yasser Al-Mishal, and the Saudi Pro League are closely following the situation.
